Where do I start?
I understand that the first step in seeking therapy can be daunting. To make the process as straightforward as possible, I offer telehealth therapy with flexible scheduling options, including after-hours availability. To begin, please contact myself, Skye Borwick, by using our online chat feature or sending an email to Skye@mykindmind.com.au. I will be happy to address any questions or concerns you may have about scheduling, fees, or appointments. Once we have established contact, you can conveniently schedule your therapy sessions through our online booking system.
How do telehealth appointments work?
Telehealth appointments at My Kind Mind are designed to be convenient and user-friendly. Once you have scheduled an appointment, you will receive a confirmation email that includes all of the necessary details, including a video link to a secure online waiting room. At the time of your appointment, simply follow the provided link and you will be directed to a waiting room, where Skye will let you into the Video when the appointment starts. To ensure a smooth and successful telehealth session, it is important to have a reliable internet connection, a smartphone, tablet, or computer device, and a private and interruption-free space.
How long is my appointment?
All appointments are 50 minutes in length. This allows for 50 minutes one on one with your therapist and 10 minutes for your psychologist to follow up on notes.
What costs are involved with seeing Skye?
The cost of a session is $220 for a 50-minute one-on-one with 10 minutes of admin. There is a Medicare rebate of $136.35 available, reducing the out-of-pocket fees to $83.65. A Mental Health Care Plan is required to access the rebate.
What is telehealth therapy?
Telehealth therapy, also known as online therapy or e-therapy, is a mode of providing mental health care remotely through the use of phone or video technology. My Kind Mind is currently 100% online. This allows for flexibility and convenience for clients, as appointments can be scheduled and conducted from the comfort of your own home. Telehealth therapy has been shown to be effective in treating a variety of mental health concerns and is a convenient alternative for those who have difficulty accessing in-person therapy.
How effective is telehealth therapy?
Telehealth therapy, also known as online or virtual therapy, has been found to be a highly effective mode of treatment, with studies demonstrating that it is comparable in effectiveness to in-person therapy. Clients who have undergone telehealth therapy have reported high levels of satisfaction with the approach, and it is increasingly being recognised as a viable and valuable alternative to traditional in-person therapy. Furthermore, telehealth therapy provides the added benefit of flexibility and comfort, allowing individuals to engage with a therapist from the privacy and convenience of their own home. For some individuals, it can be the preferred mode of therapy.
Do I need a mental health care plan?
A Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) is a document created by your GP in collaboration with you, outlining a treatment plan for a specific mental health condition. It allows you to access eligible allied health professionals, such as psychologists, with a Medicare rebate. Currently, My Kind Mind does require you to have a MHCP. The MHCP allows you to access the rebate, which significantly reduces the cost of therapy.
